My internship experience has given me valuable skills and lessons that I will be able to take with me to my future endeavors. This internship has taught me diligence, faith, and how to manage my time effectively. I have also learned professional courtesies and what to expect in an office setting. I have made professional connections that have provided me guidance for the future. I have gained knowledge for effectively communicating with coworkers and clients and establishing myself professionally.
From my parents, I have learned perseverance. They did not go to college and did not have the same opportunities as me. My father immigrated to this country from Greece. They have taught me humility. They also taught me to make the most of whatever I do and to find a way to give back to the community. I intend to take advantage of the opportunities they have granted me and put it toward helping others who were not able to get the same opportunities due to a flaw in the system.
While I don't see myself pursuing private practice in the future, I am keeping my options open as I look toward my future. My plan is to pursue a JD degree—I am starting law school as a full time student in the fall. Eventually, I hope to work on policy and changing issues within Illinois legislature and implementation. I hope to draw upon my background and experiences, as well as Loyola's mission, to one day make a difference.
